Iridium GMDSS

We offer the fastest L-band satellite connectivity available for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) worldwide.

What Ships Need GMDSS?

Find a service provider

GMDSS is mandated by the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS) for all cargo ships of 300 Gross Registered Tons (GRT) or greater and passenger ships.*

We recommend GMDSS systems for yachts and other leisure vessels making ocean voyages.

*For further detail refer to Chapter IV of SOLAS

Iridium SafetyCast® proactively delivers navigational and meteorological information, advising the crew of hazards and supporting safety measures.

Our GMDSS terminals include functionality for all satellite GMDSS services.
