The Challenge

A sailing yacht needs reliable emergency communication capabilities, regardless of location.

The Solution

Iridium® GMDSS keeps the yacht's owner and crew connected to essential maritime safety alerts and weather updates—anytime, anywhere.

The Impact

Iridium GMDSS gives the crew peace of mind in knowing that assistance is in the push of a button away.

The Challenge

A true sea dog, Rannoch Adventure founder Charlie Pitcher made a name for himself as a world-record-breaking ocean rower. It’s not all oars, though—he also helms the Nala, a 53-foot (16-meter) Nautor Swan sailing yacht. Charlie’s journeys have taken him and his family across the North Atlantic Ocean, where rough seas are commonplace.

We’ve done several Atlantic crossings and we’ve been in some difficult situations. It is of primary importance to me to make sure we’re safe.

The Impact

Charlie gains peace of mind knowing that whether sailing south of Greenland or past South Georgia, contacting a Rescue Coordination Centre takes just the press of a button.

Safety being the utmost priority, it’s very important to choose the right equipment—which is why I’ve got Iridium GMDSS. It's a system I wouldn't go to sea without.
