Environmental sustainability at Iridium means conducting our business in a manner that acknowledges, measures, and takes responsibility for our direct and indirect impacts on the environment.

Iridium’s success is built on our core values, captured in the words we believe in: teamwork, innovation, integrity, respect, and excellence. Iridium’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics is our guide for carrying out these values and for following the laws and regulations – including environmental laws and regulations – that govern our operations around the globe. These expectations are extended to our suppliers through Iridium’s Supplier Standards of Conduct.

We strive to conduct our business in a way that carefully manages risk and ensures our growth is sustainable, thereby enabling us to continue to invest in our people, products and services, and communities with minimal impact to the environment. This policy statement outlines our company-wide and long-term commitments that guide environmentally responsible decision-making throughout our business to protect the environment and natural resources.

Iridium promotes environmental responsibility and collaboratively supports our customers, partners and suppliers in achieving common sustainability goals. Iridium focuses on environmental sustainability as a global strategic priority in the following ways:

1. Comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations.
2. Ensure that our products, services and operations are safe for our employees, customers and the environment.
3. Promote environmental compliance and stewardship in our supply chain through acknowledgement of our Supplier Standards of Conduct.
4. Operate our facilities with cross-functional leadership driving continuous improvement, efficiency and environmental sustainability throughout our operations.
5. Explore measurable targets to track environmental improvements in areas such as energy efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions, waste, and water usage.
6. Reduce our carbon footprint where possible through focused system optimization, energy conservation, and innovation for energy efficiency within our direct operations and our collaborations with suppliers, partners and customers.
7. Foster a culture of environmental awareness and stewardship among Iridium employees in the workplace and in our business practices.

We expect our suppliers to comply with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and directives. We also expect our suppliers to be conscientious stewards of the environment and actively and responsibly manage risk, conserve natural resources, prevent pollution, and protect the environment by:

• obtaining and keeping current all required environmental permits and registrations;
• reducing, controlling and/or eliminating wastewater, waste and pollution at the source;
• reducing, controlling and/or eliminating air emissions of volatile chemicals, corrosives, particulates, aerosols and combustion products;
• conforming to applicable labeling and warning requirements; and
• identifying, managing, storing, moving, handling and disposing of hazardous substances in accordance with applicable law and industry best practices.

In addition, we prioritize compliance with applicable hazardous substance and emission regulations, including, but not limited to:

• Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS): a European Union (EU) regulation addressing use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment to protect the environment and public health.
• Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH): an EU regulation addressing production and use of chemical substances and potential impacts on both the environment and public health.
• Radio Equipment Directive (RED): an EU regulation addressing use of radio equipment to protect the environment and public health and establish requirements for electromagnetic compatibility and the efficient use of spectrum.

Iridium also is committed to responsible use and operation of its satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to help ensure sustainability of space. LEO is a unique global neighborhood in space, and Iridium firmly believes promoting safe, responsible and sustainable use of LEO resources will preserve this important and fragile environment for beneficial use by future generations. Iridium’s commitment to keeping space clean extended to the replacement of our first-generation satellite constellation. As part of the largest technology refresh in space, Iridium developed and implemented a deorbit program for its first satellites to ensure space was safe and sustainable for future generations. Iridium also has worked closely with the U.S. government to develop best practices for space operations and satellite end-of-life disposal. We are committed to using space for our operations and then leaving it as we found it by properly deorbiting and disposing of our constellation.

The Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of our Board of Directors (the “Committee”) is responsible for overseeing Iridium’s environmental policies and procedures. Under the Committee’s oversight, Iridium’s management implements these policies and procedures. This policy statement will be formally reviewed periodically as appropriate to consider updates in response to operational changes or new environmental developments.
