Flightcell DZM3

The Flightcell DZM3 is a totally self-contained module providing voice and data services via the Iridium and (with optional Flightcell cell modem) 3G cellular networks.

Voice communications

  • The DZM3 integrates Iridium communications into the aircraft intercom system, providing Iridium voice to all crew via their headsets.
  • A cordless handset can also be installed in the cabin of corporate or passenger aircraft.
  • One or more Flightcell Remote Control Heads can be used to control the DZM3 from other workstations.

Flight tracking

  • The DZM3 provides near real-time flight tracking, delivering both safety and efficiency benefits.
  • DZM3 tracking is event-driven, generating position reports at battery-on, engine start and stop, takeoff and landing and course change.
  • Pressing the dedicated Emergency key results in immediate transmission of a distress message to your tracking provider, allowing quick response in event of an emergency.
  • The Automated Rescue Monitoring (ARM) feature works in conjunction with your tracking provider’s automated flight watch system to provide 24/7 monitoring.

Messaging

  • The DZM3 provides two-way messaging between aircraft and ground. Preconfigured messages can be sent to your tracking provider or to any cellphone or satphone. Messages can also be sent direct to the DZM via cellular or Iridium networks.

Data services

  • The DZM3 can transfer data to and from the aircraft via streaming services or short burst data.
  • The DZM3 can be interfaced to selected Flight Data Management systems to provide near real-time monitoring of vital aircraft engineering data.

How it Works

  • The DZM3 is connected to the aircraft’s ICS (audio system).
  • The DZM3 uses the Iridium network for voice and data services.
  • Tracking data is transmitted by Iridium SBD or SMS.
  • An optional cellular modem provides the option of using 3G cellular networks for voice calling, tracking and messaging.

Tech Specs & Features

System

  • The DZM is a single module with integrated Iridium transceiver
  • Total weight is only 1.25kg excluding antenna
  • One or more Flightcell Remote Control Heads can be installed to provide control of the DZM3 system from multiple workstations
  • NVG-B compliant (upgrade option to NVG-A)

Voice calling

  • Global voice communications integrated into the aircraft audio system
  • Voice calling can be via Iridium or (with the optional cellular modem) 3g networks
  • A phone handset can be installed in the cabin of corporate or passenger aircraft
  • If a passenger handset is installed, the DZM3 provides an intercom between cockpit and cabin, and three-way calling
  • Fifty-number phone directory, and three dedicated Quickdial keys
  • Caller ID on cellular calls (future capability on Iridium).

Tracking

  • The DZM3 provides continuous tracking even if an Iridium phone call is being made
  • The DZM3 can send tracking data to a range of tracking providers. This allows you to chose the tracking provider that best suits your requirements. Unlike other systems, you are not locked into a single tracking provider
  • Event driven tracking sends special event reports at battery-on, engine start and stop, takeoff and landing and course change
  • Dedicated Emergency button transmits immediate distress message, which is escalated by your tracking provider, providing rapid response
  • TruePath provides intermediate position data with each position report, providing a more accurate aircraft track
  • Automated Rescue Monitoring (ARM), when used with a tracking service with computerized monitoring (AFF), provides 24/7 flight following

Messaging

  • Send pre-recorded messages from the DZM message library to any cellphone or satphone, or to your tracking system
  • Send messages to the DZM from an email program, cellphone, satphone or tracking program
  • Send and receive text messages from a connected computer

Data transfer

  • Use Iridium’s circuit switched or RUDICS service for dialup data
  • Use SBD for packet data transfer.
