As 2011 draws to a close, here’s one more reason for us to end the year on a high note: Iridium has just been ranked as one of the 200 largest companies in the Washington D.C. area by the Washington Post!

The Post 200 puts Iridium at number 56 among the public companies, as ranked by revenue. This represents a significant rise in position from our ranking last year.

To determine the rankings, the Post 200 starts with the 90 largest public companies with headquarters in the District and its suburbs. The rest of the list is made up of many of the largest private companies and nonprofit groups headquartered in the area; the region’s largest employers, law firms and lobbying organizations; its major sports teams, hospital operators and universities; and foreign companies with U.S. headquarters in the area.
